Chinanews, Beijing, December 25 – It's very common for China to witness labor force shift nowadays. The total shifting population in 2005 was 146.86 million, including 76.39 million young people aged between 14 and 35.

The statistics were disclosed in a report on the development of the Chinese youths, written by the Population and Development Research Center of the Renmin University of China.

According to Hou Jiawei, the director of the research group, young people tend to migrate to faraway places as they are capable of blending themselves into a totally strange environment – a behavior that in turn will help improved social fusion.

In 2005, the province with the biggest population in China was Henan, while Guangdong was the province with the most young people both in absolute number and in proportion. Western province and autonomous regions such as Tibet, Qinghai and Ningxia had the fewest young people, but Chongqing, Sichuan, Anhui and Huibei provinces had the smallest proportions of young people.

Guangdong has absorbed a large number of migrant workers, which contribute to its large youth population.
